Race Rules, club kit and protocol
Club Name : When entering a race and specifying your club name on any form, please use "Morningside Runners". This will make it easier to find club entries on www.raceresults.co.za etc. When there is no "Morningside Runners" option (such as on the Comrades online entry club-name drop-down list), then use the full "Morningside Country Club Road Runners".
Official Kit : Our standard club colours are the blue-check Morningside vests, with navy shorts.
Numbers : The annual CGA licenses are pinned at the back and front of your running vest. If a number is provided by the organizers at a specific race, it is pinned on the front as well. eg. from the PnP race pamphlet : "Pick n Pay Race Numbers must be worn on the front of the vest and 2012 licence numbers must be worn on the back."
Please take careful note of this, as in some races (particularly where organizers do not provide a formal race number but just a little sticker), you may be disqualified if you do not have your CGA/ASA license on the front of your vest as well.
General Protocol :
Please don't litter during races - use the bins provided.
Don't cut corners - routes are measured on the road, so stay on the road. Race leaders and front runners often cut corners - don't follow them.
Be considerate in where you start a race. While seeded starts are not common in SA, it is still sensible to start where you won't hold up the field.
If you have the energy while running, thank the marshalls and volunteers who make our races possible.
